hi! i actually grew up on that lake, most people only have cottages but my grandma has a year round house! It is true there are freshwater jellyfish, i was able to catch them all the time on the surface! That lake is pretty clear, one of the cleanest i've been around, it was cool to learn about the sunken boats lurking on the bottom. glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for this blog. My wife and I just moved to Holland Michigan from Orange County CA. We got certified while in CA and did several dives from Laguna Beach, Catalina Island, Anacapa Island, and San Diego. Now we are looking for opportunities to blow bubbles out here but not necessarily out in Lake Michigan. We appreciate the info on Baptist Lake and Lake Versluis and look forward to reading more.

Dove there a couple years ago when we were told that in late august to mid september you could find fresh water jelly fish. They typically hang out in about 10-15' of water, they are about the size of a dime so it may take a bit to see them. My son, not yet a diver, was able to capture them from the surface with just a mask and an empty 2 liter bottle to bring in for show and tell.

Hi,

Sounds like you had a good time on Sunday. I was supposed to dive at Baptist lake tonight but something else came up. I am looking for some people to dive with as I'm a new diver too. I dive Versluis lake alot. Lake Michigan is fun too but the waves have to be small enough to enter/exit.

Thank you for the information on your dive.

Regards,
